How to Play 2048
Use arrow keys or swipe to slide
On desktop press ↑ ↓ ← → (or WASD) to slide all tiles in that direction. On mobile, swipe anywhere on the board. Every tile moves as far as possible.
Tiles with the same number merge
When two identical tiles collide they combine — two 4s become an 8, two 64s become a 128. Each merge adds to your score and changes the tile's color.
A new tile appears after every move
After each swipe a new 2 or 4 tile spawns in a random empty cell. Keep the board from filling up with smart, planned merges.
Reach the 2048 tile to win

Game over when no moves remain

Arrange tiles in a descending sequence along the bottom — 1024, 512, 256, 128 — creating a natural merge chain.
Never displace your top tile

Before every swipe, visualize where tiles will land and whether a badly placed new tile could trap you.
